 President U Thein Sein attended the awarding ceremony of the national level English language proficiency competitions held at Myanmar International Convention Centre 2 here on Tuesday.

U Nyan Tun, Vice President of Myanmar, received a delegation led by Mr Akio Mimura, Chairman of the ASEAN-Japan Economic Council as well as of the Federation of Japanese Traders and Industrialists, at the Credentials Hall of the Presidential Palace here on Tuesday, sources said.

The President also said that all the national brethrens have a common aspect of patriotic spirit for the unity of country and all the parties concerned are responsible for the development of the country.

 President U Thein Sein urged ASEAN member states to exert collective efforts for the regional economic integration through free flow of goods, free  flow  of  services  and investment  and  free  flow of skilled labour and freer flow  of  capital  as  envisaged in the AEC Blueprint at his opening speech at the opening ceremony of the 46th ASEAN Economic Ministers, Meeting held at Myanmar International Convention Centre-1 in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

The 500-bed Yangon Specialist Hospital was commissioned into service on Minye Kyawswa Street in Lanmadaw Township of Yangon on Monday, attended by Chairman of the National Health Committee and Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham.

The chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, chief ministers of states and regions, and chairmen of leading bodies of self-ruled regions and areas reported on priority tasks, including poverty reduction and land management, with the president calling on all parties to continue efforts on the reform process.

At the opening ceremony, the vice president said the government has been carrying out education reforms to improve the education standards of Myanmar since it took office  by  inviting  advice from experts at educational workshops as educational development is the foundation  of  the  national  development.

Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham accepted a call by British Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Andrew Patrick and his delegation on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw to discuss further strengthening of bilateral relations and British assistance to accelerate Myanmar’s reform processes.

Vice President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Nyan Tun received a delegation led by member of the Qatar Emirate family Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani at the hall of the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday to hold talks about cooperation in trade and investment.

 Vice President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Nyan Tun delivered a speech at the meeting of the Central Committee for Prevention of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Home Affairs here.

We are holding the ceremony because we want to comply with the demands of the ethnic armed groups, reaffirm all existing agreements and undertake the tasks needed to inaugurate the peace dialogue process immediately after the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement. I would like to reaffirm once more that the peace process will not end with ceasefire; we are committed to launching the political dialogue process from the foundation of ceasefires we have already achieved. I would also like to make clear again that in the current peace process the government discussed all the proposed items from the ethnic armed groups without setting any preconditions.
