The following message is the felicitations from Foreign Heads of State sent to Vice President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Henry Van Thio, on the occasion of the 69th Anniversary Independence Day of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on 4 January.

It is with great pleasure that I convey to Your Excellency, my warm congratulations and best wishes on the happy occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

The principles of Theravada Buddhism have stood as a firm foundation in the development of longstanding relations between our two countries. It is my fervent wish that the existing friendly relations and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Myanmar will be further strengthened for the mutual interest of our two nations.

Please accept, Excellency, my best wishes for your personal well-being and for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
