Ceremony held to Confer religious titles on 165 sayadaws, nine nuns, eight men and 21 women

A ceremony to confer religious titles on Sayadaws, nuns and persons was held yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw in conjunction with a Maha Mangala Ceremony to donate rice to the Venerable Sayadaws.

A total of 165 Sayadaws, nine nuns, eight men and 21 women were conferred the titles at the ceremony which was held at Thathana Beikman Building in the compound of the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw.

At the ceremony, President U Htin Kyaw presented the Abhidhaja Maharahttaguru tiles to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sobhita of Kainggon Pali Tekkatho Monastery in Khayan, Yangon Region, and Sayadaw Bhaddanta Janninda of Paukmyaing Monastery in Lewe.

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi presented the Abhidhaja Maharahttaguru tiles to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Nanninda of Hsinpyugyun Monastery in Chauk, Sayadaw Bhaddanta Oabatha of Atulakari Hsinmin Monastery in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay Region, and Dr Nanninsara, Chancellor of the Sitagu International Buddhist Universities.

Vice-President U Myint Swe, Vice-President U Henry Van Thio, U Win Myint, Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw, U Htun Htun Oo, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Union, Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Union ministers, Union Attorney-General, Union Auditor-General, Chairman of the Union Civil Service Selection Board, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council and deputy ministers also attended the ceremony and presented the titles to the Sayadaws, nuns and persons.
