On the occasion of the New Year, I send these greetings and good wishes for the good health and auspiciousness of all ethnic nationalities living in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. It is now a year since our Government took office.

During this year we have been persistently striving to achieve internal peace as quickly as possible because this is as important as life-blood for the socio-economic development of the people, for all ethnic people to live harmoniously within Myanmar society, for rule of law and all round development. We have seen with satisfaction the enthusiastic donations made by the people for the achievement of peace. This shows that the government and the people are one in working for the peace process.

At this auspicious time of the Myanmar New Year, I would like to wish yet again that the ethnic people would participate and play their respective parts with new spirits and ideas for the good of the country. The people need to cooperate with the Government in the endeavor to establish a stable,
peaceful democratic system in Myanmar. The Union Government has done its utmost for the socio-economic development of the people and the people have
already seen the Government’s one year performance.

I pray that the Myanmar New Year 1379 will be the year when the Republic of the Union of Myanmar will see the emergence of clearer images of peace; the year when we can walk on a straight path towards peace; and the year which will be remembered as a memorable year in the history of Myanmar.

I also pray that the Republic of the Union of Myanmar would be able to stand tall as a nation developing in accordance with the changing world; and that all
ethnic people would be blessed with both peace of mind and physical well-being and that they would be able to contribute for their benefit, their neighborhoods and the country as dutiful citizens.
