Village-tract chief killed in Maungtaw

Ar Me Alie, who was in charge of the Tet Oo Chaung village-tract, was killed by a group of masked men at his house in Phway Yar village in Maungtaw township, rakhine State on Monday. According to the initial investigation, Arme Alie, 38, was at his home when about 10 masked people arrived. Two of the men entered his house and attacked him with swords and then dragged out of the house. The rest of the men also assailed him. At the same time, the neighbours came out from their homes. The 10 men fired five shots and fled from the scene. The victim was found dead with cuts on his arm, head and back. Border guard police found two shell casings from a gun near the victims’ house.

The corpse was sent to Maungtaw hospital. The border guard force opened a case according to law.
