Chinese government donates US$500,000 to JMC-U

Chinese government donated US$ 500,000 to the Union Joint Monitoring Committee(JMC-U) yesterday in support of the committee’s ceasefire efforts with the ethnic armed groups.

Mr. Sun Guoxiang, Special Envoy of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, handed over the cash to Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Chairman of Union Joint Monitoring Committee(JMC-U), as he called on the chairman at National Reconciliation and Peace Center yesterday. At the meeting, they discussed the current efforts of JMC-U at all levels together with the signatories and non-signatories to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

 At the meeting, Mr. Sun Guoxiang, Special Envoy of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, conveyed the message of Chinese government on its support to the peace process in Myanmar, to the JMC-U.
